4.1 Performance of a Legal or Tax Engagement
We process personal data to perform agreements under which you instruct us to provide legal, tax or mediation services. This includes:
- client onboarding and verification;
- handling your legal matter, including litigation, negotiation and advisory work;
- billing, accounting and administrative processes;
- applying for legal aid, where applicable.
When handling a legal matter, we may also process personal data of opposing parties, witnesses, experts and other individuals involved.
4.2 Compliance with Legal Obligations (including WWFT)
Under the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act – WWFT, lawyers and tax advisers are required to:
- identify and verify clients;
- retain copies of identification documents;
- investigate the origin of funds and purpose of transactions.
We ensure that only the required information is processed and that unnecessary data is not collected or duplicated.
4.3 Communications, Newsletters and Events
Your contact details may be stored in our client relationship system and used for:
- newsletters and legal updates;
- invitations to seminars, events or courses;
- responding to information requests.
You may unsubscribe from such communications at any time.
4.4 Improving Our Services and Marketing Activities
To provide relevant information and improve our offerings, we analyse:
Interaction data: Information obtained from your contact with us, such as website visits or communications with our staff. For example, we use Leadinfo, which identifies visiting companies based on IP addresses (without identifying individuals). No cookies are placed for this purpose.
Behavioural data: Preferences and interests inferred from your interactions with our website, newsletters or information requests.

4.5 Client Satisfaction Surveys
We occasionally request clients to participate in online satisfaction surveys, always on a voluntary basis. Additional information is provided prior to participation.
4.6 Website Use and Improvement
We analyse anonymised website traffic to understand visitor numbers, page views and user behaviour. This data helps us improve performance, content and usability.
5. Legal Bases for Processing
Wise Law BV processes personal data only when there is a lawful basis under the GDPR:

11. Retention Periods
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless statutory retention periods require otherwise. Files relating to legal advice or litigation handled by Wise Law BV are in principle retained for seven years. If a longer retention period is legally required or in your interest, we will inform you accordingly.

Wise Law BV employs appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorised access or unlawful processing.
